Beware of Uncertified Tracking Devices
First, it shows that the supplying company only sells top quality products that have been tested. A tested and certified product is going to cost more because it went through more benchmarking and added testing costs more.
Secondly, if your tracking device is not approved or certified by the network, they can turn off service to that product or ban it from the network. That means you just spent $150 for a paper weight.
Instead go to www.trackyourtruck.com, where all of your products are tested and approved by the carrier network! A wise man once told me, “You get what you pay for!” and that is true with our product line. We are committed to supplying only the best GPS tracking devices for our customers.

Upgrading From Cell Phone Tracking
1. The device is not connected to the vehicle, so there is no way to monitor key on/off or idle times.
2. Employees can shut off the cell phone or say the battery ran out and then you can no longer track the vehicle.
3. The GPS in the phone drains the battery halfway through the work day. This is a major problem as most folks need their phone for more than 4 hours.
4. For GPS to function, it needs a clear view of the sky. If the phone is in the drivers pocket or laying on the seat, it may not have a good GPS signal, causing erratic GPS behavior.
5. If your employees take their company vehicles home at night, they can simply leave the cell phone at home and use the vehicle without you knowing.
6. Finally, a big factor is that if the vehicle is stolen, you do not have a way to track the location because the phone is on the employee and not in the vehicle.
If you have tried using cell phones to track employees and it is not meeting your needs, check out www.trackyourtruck.com for our in-vehicle GPS tracking units. We will help you find the correct tracking device for your fleet.

How Can GPS Tracking Help Your Fleet?
Monitor Idling Times — The biggest expense for most companies is fuel. Some drivers leave their trucks idling during deliveries so that they can maintain a comfortable cab climate, this uses a lot of fuel. GPS tracking devices can help you lower these costs by monitoring idle times. The user has the ability to set up alerts, so that when a given employee idles for too long you can be notified. Cutting down on excessive idling saves on fuel and also cuts down on greenhouse gases.
Lower Fuel Consumption – Routing capabilities and monitoring speed are two ways that GPS tracking can lower fuel consumption. Having the ability to route the closet truck will cut down on mileage, which saves you money. Many companies are starting to use GPS tracking to monitor off-hour use of company vehicles. Add all three (3) of these events together and your company could see a decrease in the amount of fuel used each month.
Vehicle Location – Having an up-to-date location of where your fleet is, is a time saving feature. This can help provide flexibility in dispatching and also your company can track the amount of time your employee’s are at a given location. Both of these help your company and your customers. All of this information is readily available and can help improve your business operations.
This is just a few benefits your company can be experiencing while using GPS tracking. It doesn’t matter the fleet size, from 1 vehicle to 1,000+, GPS tracking devices are a smart business investment. Visit our website for more information about our product line and to see more of the benefits from installing GPS tracking devices into your company’s fleet.

Increased Savings helps GPS Tracking Market Grow
In a recent September 20 issue of Crain’s Chicago Business, an article spoke about the GPS commercial-navigation industry and the growth potential. “New York-based ABI Research Inc. predicts annual shipments of commercial-navigation devices will more than double worldwide to 7.5 million a year by 2015 and nearly quadruple in the U.S. as more companies use GPS to manage their vehicle fleets. When fuel prices are high, cutting the amount of time trucks spend idling can generate savings far exceeding the $500 to $1,000 cost of buying and installing GPS equipment and the $20 to $40 monthly software fee.” (Crain’s Chicago Business September 20,2010 Article)
With the increased demand for professional fleet management, Track Your Truck is there to handle your company needs. TYT can gain insight into multiple aspects of your company’s operations including, vehicle’s current location, 95 day history period, routing, reports, and alerts.
As the GPS tracking market continues to grow and develop, Track Your Truck will continue to improve their hardware and software capabilities to remain on the cutting edge of the fleet tracking market.

Amsterdam Deploys ERA's Vehicle Tracking Units
Amsterdam Deploys ERA's Vehicle Tracking Units
After a successful round of long-term testing, Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport selected ERA to support the vehicle tracking segment of its Advanced Surface Movement and Guidance Control System (A-SMGCS).
Dutch air navigation service provider, LVNL, evaluated all market leading vehicle tracking units, placing them through a demanding six-month trial period. LVNL reported it focused mainly on reliability and ADS-B transmitting capabilities in highly obstructed airport areas. LVNL subsequently selected ERA's squitter beacon (SQB) and extended the pilot program of 60 units to well over 300 units for a complete airport implementation.
"ERA's SQB units allow us to take full advantage of our A-SMGCS, providing air traffic controllers with a complete view of each vehicle's location, largely increasing safety levels at all areas on the airport's surface," says Ruud van Halm, Project Manager of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
The ERA units operate seamlessly with the existing ground surveillance application, as all units are put through rigorous standards adherence allowing them to work with any ADS-B and multilateration surveillance system.
ERA's SQB units are equipped with smart Vehicle Location Transmitters, which transmit spontaneous Mode S reply, and a GPS receiver, which is used to track the vehicle location. These transmitters provide a constant, automatic stream of position and vehicle identification information to be displayed in the control tower. Thus, safety and efficiency are enhanced during all aircraft ground movements, even in the most adverse weather conditions.
Amsterdam's selection of ERA follows several recent deployments in leading airports worldwide including Copenhagen, Prague, Santiago and Cape Town.

Wikipedia about Vehicle Tracking
Below is a small excerpt.
Several types of Vehicle Tracking devices exist. Typically they are classified as Passive and Active. Passive devices simply store GPS location, speed, heading and perhaps key on/off, door open/closed. Once the vehicle returns to a pre-determined point, the device is removed and the data downloaded to a computer for evaluation. Active devices also collect the same information but usually transmit the data in real-time via cellular or satellite networks to a computer or data center for evaluation. Examples of companies that offer Passive Devices are TrackStick and TravelEyes. Examples of companies that offer Active Devices are USAT Corp., LoJack, StreetEagle, and TrackYourTruck. Companies such as Fleetilla offer active devices suitable for fleet management applications. Online systems can provide information on demand or on a scheduled basis. Scheduled updates can be as frequent as once per minute.
